A Cambridge Home for Hosting

This single family home in Cambridge was an exercise in downsizing while still hosting regular gatherings. The clients were moving from a much larger space, and were used to hosting large groups for dinners — and while this new home had great outdoor space for summer, they planned to also host friends in winter.

For dinner parties and holidays, we sourced a cherry extension dining table that would easily expand to seat 10-12 guests, and added to the existing built-in dining storage to hold extra dish ware and cookbooks.

In a home with no mudroom, we designed the entryway to clearly guide guests to coat and shoe storage (with a closet around the corner for larger parties) so the space can remain tidy even when a boot-wearing crowd arrives.
