Primary Bedroom Retreat

A bedroom with a bed, decorated with pillows, a bench at the foot, and a large colorful rug. The room has separate nightstands with lamps, framed artwork on the walls, a window with striped blinds, and plants for decoration.

A repeat client was ready to refresh her primary bedroom. Like other spaces in her home, the goal was to reuse a few heirloom-quality pieces she already owned and build a peaceful, pulled-together retreat.

We started with what was staying: a vintage, high-quality, nearly wall-to-wall wool rug, and a vintage Kipp Stewart lowboy dresser. The client wanted to keep the king-sized headboard, so we made that a goal to stretch their budget for other higher-priced items.

A local vintage reseller came through with a highboy and pair of nightstands to work with the existing lowboy. We updated the walls and trim with soft white paint, and added subtle texture behind the bed with flax-colored grass cloth.

A Cezanne-inspired vintage oil painting, sourced from a local estate sale, works well with their previously-owned pieces to give life to the neutral walls.

A bedroom with a large bed, wooden headboard, white bedding, and multiple pillows. There are two nightstands, one with a lamp and books, and a dresser with a framed painting of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night on the wall. The room features a window, a colorful patterned rug, and natural light.
